Can You Find the Lost Sheep in Yellow Jerseys?

GSC Grays are delighted to be one of over three hundred businesses involved with the ‘Lost Sheep in Yellow Jumpers’ campaign, which has been organised by The Tourism Network and is running across the Yorkshire Dales.  The campaign runs from 5th July to 5th September 2013.  It’s a special challenge for both visitors and residents – they have to find at least four sheep or mini-flocks of “lost sheep in yellow jerseys”, enter online to say where they are, with the chance to win a large selection of wool/sheep related prizes. Visitors and residents can enter as many times as they like, so there’s an incentive to spot the sheep in different parts of the Yorkshire Dales.

Why sheep? When the Tour de France comes through the Yorkshire Dales, visitors and television cameras will spot sheep everywhere. But most people just see them as white blobs on the landscape – The Tourism Network are working on a wider project to show how interesting and important sheep are to the Yorkshire Dales!

The Tourism Network are promoting all things  sheep/wool in the Yorkshire Dales. Demonstrating their important role in history and the current economy, promoting local lamb, attractions relating to farming and wool crafts, and encouraging the use of woollen goods. See www.woollenhills.com for more details.

The campaign has had coverage on BBC Look North, BBC York, BBC Tees, Farmers Weekly and there’s more to come. The Lost Sheep will also feature on at least 3 stands at the Great Yorkshire Show. VisitEngland Chief Executive James Berresford and Chair, Lady Cobham, and DEFRA Minister Richard Benyon have all been very enthusiastic about the campaign.
