Saddling Up Once Again for Great Causes

Chris Arundel, Director and Head of Agency for GSC Grays, is taking to the saddle and rising to yet another challenge, the Maserati Tour de Yorkshire Ride 2015 on 3rd May. Chris hopes to complete the gruelling 140km cycle ride in less than 6 hours and is raising funds for Great North Air Ambulance Service and Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity.

The Tour de Yorkshire Ride, will give sportive riders from across the UK the chance to race along the same roads as the Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire and pave the way for the professional cyclists. The sportive gives keen amateur cyclists the chance to race with the same routes, structures and spectators as the professional Tour de Yorkshire, including an exciting finish at the race finish line in Roundhay.

Chris has clocked up hours of competitive hours in the saddle over the past few years, taking part in the 83 mile Etape Caledonia; the Pennine Etape 2013; Ride London 100 mile route; Stage 1 Tour de France 2014 and not forgetting the GSC Grays 115 miles Office to Office charity ride where Chris was joined by colleagues.

Chris has spent many hours throughout the dark winter nights and mornings, wrapping up and braving the freezing temperatures in order to train for the event. Chris has managed to overcome and prioritise other commitments to family life and work, however, says “once I’m out on the bike, its brilliant”.

Openly admitting to being a frustrated Bradley Wiggins and general sports enthusiast, Chris finds the personal challenges incredibly rewarding and the Tour de Yorkshire Ride is no exception, stating “it provides me with a real focus to keep fit and at the same time enjoy cycling through some really beautiful countryside and on fairly quiet roads too, whilst raising money for two great causes”.

If you wish to get behind Chris and support his chosen charities, please kindly donate through his Just Giving page:

In Chris’ own words: “As a man with an ageing engine, the thought of out-performing my bike is a delusion. It is akin to having the shell of a sports car with a misfiring tractor engine powering it!”
