John joined GSC Grays as a Director in July 2017 to head up the specialist Farms and Country House Agency department bringing with him a wealth of experience from trading rural property across the North of England and Scotland over the past 34 years.

John Coleman
John started his career as a graduate rural property surveyor with Young’s Chartered Surveyors before moving to a large Edinburgh based general practice firm specialising in agricultural property, sales and valuations. In 1999, he joined Knight Frank in Edinburgh and became the head of Knight Frank’s Scottish Residential Business in 2002.
In 2011, John moved to Smiths Gore to head up and develop their rural estate agency services across Scotland specialising in the sale of rural properties, land, farms and estates. John became particularly well known for his expertise in the sale of the more unusual property including islands, castles and commercial sporting properties.

Following the merger of Savills and Smiths Gore in 2015, he relocated to Wooler and has been advising on farm and estate sales and purchases in the borders and across the north of England.
John has moved south with his wife and family and is now based in Teesdale.
